Isles of Capri

Isles of Capri: A Little Slice of Old Florida
Just a short drive from Marco Island is one of my favorite little escapes—Isles of Capri. It may be small, and you won't even find a gas station on the island, but that's part of its charm. There is something about the relaxed, laid-back atmosphere that makes you feel like you've stepped away from the hustle and bustle and into a slower pace of Old Florida.
One of the first things I fell in love with was the view. Whether you're sitting at a restaurant, walking along the water, or watching the boats come and go, there is always something happening on the water. We especially love spending time at Island Gypsy, enjoying a meal while watching boats make their way in and out. There's something about sitting outside, taking in the water views, and realizing you don't have anywhere you need to rush off to.
I'll always remember my very first visit to Isles of Capri because we arrived by boat. As we came into the island, I remember seeing those yellow and blue umbrellas along the waterfront. It's one of those little memories that sticks with you, and even now, seeing those colors brings me right back to that first visit.
That's what I love about Isles of Capri. Things just seem a little more relaxed there. You can sit, watch the boats, enjoy a meal, and let the day unfold without feeling like you need to hurry.
But one of my absolute favorite ways to experience Isles of Capri is from the water.
Kayaking & Paddleboarding
For anyone who enjoys being out on the water, Isles of Capri is a fantastic launching point for an adventure. One of my favorite things to do is kayaking and paddleboarding with Marco Paddle.
And I have to give a special shout-out to Chandler, who is always my tour guide! Every time we head out, I discover something new. Whether we're exploring the waterways, looking for wildlife, or simply enjoying the scenery, there's always something different to see.
The kayak and paddleboard launch is right at the beginning of Isles of Capri, making it a convenient place to start your adventure. From there, you can get out on the water and see the area from an entirely different perspective.
There is something pretty special about paddling through the calm waterways, surrounded by mangroves and wildlife, while knowing that you're just minutes from Marco Island—but it feels like you've traveled much farther away.
A Place Worth Exploring
Isles of Capri may be small, but I think that's exactly why I enjoy it so much. It doesn't need a lot of attractions or businesses to make it special. The water, the views, the boats, the restaurants, and the relaxed atmosphere are the attraction.
It's a place where you can grab lunch at Island Gypsy, watch boats come and go, remember the first time you arrived by boat, or launch a kayak and spend the afternoon exploring with Chandler.
For me, Isles of Capri is another reminder of why I love this area so much. Sometimes the best adventures are found in the little places that don't try too hard to be anything other than what they are.
And Isles of Capri has that feeling—the kind that makes you want to stay just a little longer.
